Health and Safety Committee 

 

The workplace is too often dangerous to our health. Every year, deaths, injuries and chronic diseases take their toll. The Health and Safety Committee is focused on prevention and on maintaining the highest degree of physical and mental health. 

Our conference call meetings can easily accommodate you – no matter where you live. Add your voice to the events and initiatives that we organize and develop expertise in Health and Safety.

Our mandate

The objectives of the PSAC North Regional Health & Safety Committees are to identify, promote and assist union actions around workplace health and safety by:

  • Educating, politicizing and mobilizing Health and Safety activists by making links between themselves, theunion, the workplace, andWorkers’ Safety and Compensation Boards

  • Empowering, uniting and engaging all union members to take action for Occupational Health and Safety

Every employee should have the right to feel safe when they go to work every day.That’s why the Safety Advisory Committee helped draft better language to protect workers with new Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.But the draft regulations have been collecting dust on the desks of both territorial ministers since 2011, and every year more workers die on the job because of it.

The Workers' Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) is currently seeking expressions of interest from persons interested in joining their new Stakeholder Engagement Committee (SEC).The SEC provides timely input to the WSCC, to facilitate policy creating, decision making, and program delivery. The Committee Chairperson, internal to the WSCC, calls upon SEC Members to provide valuable feedback.
