PSAC North is proud to offer members a union education program that ranks among the best and most comprehensive in Canada.

We provide members with learning opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, and personal confidence. Union education encourages participation and promotes mutual respect and understanding between members and the union leadership. A trained membership is an active membership and active members build a strong union.

On December 6, communities across Canada held vigils and events. It has been 30 years since the tragic mass shooting at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal (December 6, 1989) that saw the promising lives of 14 young women cut violently short. December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Bargaining Update City Refuses to Address Members’ Concerns   The UNW/PSAC bargaining team is ready to go back to the table any time the City of Yellowknife is willing to negotiate seriously. By presenting a final offer before negotiations were scheduled to end, the Employer ignored many issues. WORK-LIFE BALANCE There are more than 10 demands related to work-life balance that the City of Yellowknife has ignored in their final offer. Some of them are: - Better vacation accrual

Members of PSAC North NWT Regional Women’s Committee joined Yellowknife's first Family Violence Awareness Month Solidarity March on November 6.   PSAC North NWT Regional Health and Safety Committee organized an Outreach series of events: “Take a Moment for Safety.” It involved meeting people on Market Days at Somba K’e Park in Yellowknife. Each person was asked for a safety tip that they would live by. Adults and children shared insights on on how to stay safe.

PSAC North NWT Regional Indigenous Peoples Committee and Women's Committee partnered to sponsor the Sisters in Spirit luncheon on October 11.The luncheon was organized by the Native’s Women’s Association of the Northwest Territories.

A child deprived of nutritious food. A family striving to find an affordable place to call home. Poverty is real and we witness it every day.

Northwest Territories Regional Indigenous Peoples’ Committee donated $1000 to the North Slave Métis Alliance for June 21st Fish Fry at Somba K’e Civic Plaza. PSAC North and the committee looks forward to the celebrations. Wherever you are, find out where the day is being celebrated, participate and volunteer.
