Women's Committee in Yukon

  Whitehorse Regional Women’s Committee invites you to their 2020 Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, November 25th at 5:30 pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this meeting will take place virtually. The option of a face-to-face meeting is being discussed. Please note your preference when you RSVP. To register to attend, please email dalleys@psac-afpc.com. A link to the virtual meeting and/or and face-to-face options will be provided closer to the date of the AGM.

PSAC North Yukon Regional Women’s Committee in Whitehorse, sponsored International Women’s Day event that was taking place in Whitehorse on March 7, 2020 for International Women's Day.  The Committee provided $100 worth of refreshments to a local business that was holding their 3rd Annual International Women's Day Tattoo Fundraiser organized by Molotov & Bricks. All proceeds from the day were donated to Kaushee’s Place and Victoria Faulkner Women’s Shelter.

PSAC North Yukon Regional Women’s Committee members came together on Saturday, February 8th to assemble 25 baskets containing essential household items such as mugs, glasses, cooking utensils, etc. for the Whitehorse Transition Home.  Women’s Committee would like to thank all members and volunteers who made this possible. The committee received a donation from Local Y017 of the Yukon Employees’ Union.

On December 6, communities across Canada held vigils and events. It has been 30 years since the tragic mass shooting at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal (December 6, 1989) that saw the promising lives of 14 young women cut violently short. December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women    We invite all members and supporters to join PSAC North Yukon Regional Women's Committee for December 6th vigil at Yukon Legislative Assembly on Friday, December 6th, 12 PM- 1 PM.  For more information, visit the event page on Facebook.  This event is organized by Victoria Faulkner Women's Centre.

Each year on October 4th communities across Canada come together to honour the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.  PSAC North Yukon Regional Indigenous Peoples Committee and Whitehorse Regional Women's Committee sponsored the Sisters in Spirit in Whitehorse event by providing refreshments to participants. The event and vigil was organized by Yukon Aboriginal Women's Council on October 4th, 2019.

PSAC North Yukon Regional Women's Committee gathered items to provide 25 starter baskets to the Yukon Women's Transition Homes. Each basket was filled with the basics to start a new home such as dishes, detergent, paper products, utensils, kitchen supplies including a pot, fry pan, measuring cups, oven mitts and dish towels. Items were sponsored by Canadian Tire and the Great Canadian Dollar Store. PaintMate Decorating Services assisted with pick up of the items.
