PSAC North Yukon Regional Women's Committee gathered items to provide 25 starter baskets to the Yukon Women's Transition Homes. Each basket was filled with the basics to start a new home such as dishes, detergent, paper products, utensils, kitchen supplies including a pot, fry pan, measuring cups, oven mitts and dish towels. Items were sponsored by Canadian Tire and the Great Canadian Dollar Store. PaintMate Decorating Services assisted with pick up of the items.
The Regional Women's Committee partnered with the Yukon Women's Coalition to help raise awareness on International Women's Day (IWD), celebrating the international theme "Balance For Better". On Friday, March 8, the committee joined the Victoria Faulkner Women's Centre Open House from 11am - 4pm with a pop-up photo-booth.The committee organized and hosted IWD celebration in the evening at the Yukon Employees Union Building with “Balance For Better” theme. Guests also got to meet women firefighters from the Yukon Ember Fire Academy.
The committee would like to thank all members, volunteers and sponsors, in addition to everyone who came out to show their support and solidarity and share their message for #balanceforbetter.
