For three years Local 32 has joined the Coldestnightoftheyear.org in helping to spread awareness about homelessness and raise money for a local charity. This year 11 groups in Yellowknife have pledged to raise $25,000 for The Yellowknife Salvation Army to renovate their Emergency Men’s Shelter Kitchen where they serve lunch and supper to those in need in Yellowknife.
On the 3rd floor of the Yellowknife Aurora College campus, a row of tables is lined against one wall – a total of fifteen crock pots are lined up as supporters gather to taste the amazing dishes that were donated to help raise money. A total of $560 was raised during the fundraiser.
But of course what is a fundraiser without a lil’competition!
Three Categories, Fifteen Dishes, and Four Judges awarded Bragging Rights to the Chefs of the four winning dishes:
Warm It Up – Caribou Noodle Vegetable Soup by Lisa Tetlichi
Honourable Mention: Curried Cauliflower
Feeling The Heat – Sweet Lime Chili by Sandy Little
