All union members in Nunavut are invited and encouraged to attend PSAC Nunavut Regional Council/Committees AGMs. Meetings will be held via teleconference and are in Eastern Time. During these AGMs, participating members will vote for Chair, Secretary and Treasurer positions. PSAC North Nunavut Regional Women’s Committee Planned an Event for International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, 2020.  Best laid plans for this event were cancelled because of a Blizzard that arrived on March 7 and stayed till March 9th with 1/8-mile visibility However, members of the Committee had the opportunity on Saturday night, March 7, to attend IWD celebration at the Black Heart Café sponsored by the Qulliit Nunavut Status of Women Council.

  March 8, 2020 is International Women’s Day and the PSAC Nunavut Women’s Committee will be sponsoring a Brunch for Women in the Community. This event is to celebrate the social, economic achievement of women. International Women’s Day has been celebrated for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911. On March 8, 2020 we will be hosting women in the community at this event and hope to have approximately 60 attendees.

On December 6, communities across Canada held vigils and events. It has been 30 years since the tragic mass shooting at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal (December 6, 1989) that saw the promising lives of 14 young women cut violently short. December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

  The Nunavut Area Council, Access Committee, Racially Visible, Young Workers and the Women’s Committees. Invite you and your Co-workers to attend the Human Rights Day celebration. Please share widely to anyone you know who might be interested attending a fun evening with other activists. National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women  We invite all members and supporters to join PSAC North Nunavut Regional Women's Committee for December 6th vigil. The event will start at 5:45 PM with a community march Igluvut Building to Museum. Following the vigil, Women's Committee will be meeting to pack purses to be donated to women's shelter.    For more information about the event's program, please view the attached document. The march and ceremony are organized by Nunavut Status of Women Council.
