The Native Women Association of the NWT hosted an unveiling of the Beaded Hearts Tapestry as part of the opening of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) hearings in Yellowknife on Jan. 22, 2018.
The hearings took place over three days and involved 40 families sharing their experiences.
The Beaded Hearts Tapestry was created to pay respect to Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and to acknowledge the families who have experienced great loss.
Each heart was beaded and sewn by individuals around the territory to commemorate the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
