United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination 21 March 2018 Theme: Promoting tolerance, inclusion, unity and respect for diversity in the context of combating racial discrimination

Through the International Day for The Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the United Nations General Assembly calls on the international community to redouble its efforts to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination. The Public Service Alliance of Canada’s (PSAC) Nunavut Racially Visible Committee stands in solidarity with the United Nations in this call.

It is understood that racism, xenophobia and intolerance are problems prevalent in all societies, and discriminatory practices are widespread, particularly targeting migrants, refugees and racial minority groups. It is also understood that these discriminatory practices and beliefs often find their way into our workplaces.

The PSAC Nunavut Racially Visible Committee urges all on an individual, organizational, local, national and international level to take measures to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, and to promote tolerance, inclusion, unity and respect for diversity.  The PSAC Nunavut Racially Visible Committee asks that all work together to eliminate racial discrimination in the workplace.
