Conciliation Meetings Scheduled The UNW/PSAC bargaining team is eager to get back to the table to reach a fair agreement with the City of Yellowknife. Since the City presented a final offer before negotiations were scheduled to end, the only way to return to the table is through Conciliation.

On strike since November 2nd , the union’s bargaining team negotiated into the early morning hours of January 22 to reach a tentative agreement. Following a membership meeting and vote, the tentative contract has been ratified by the members of YEU/PSAC Local Y031, Many Rivers Counselling and Support Services. Unionized workers at Dominion Diamond Ekati Corporation voted in favour of ratifying the new tentative agreement with their employer. The voting took place over the course of four weeks to ensure members on differing shifts as well as those on long-term leave had the opportunity to vote.  The new four-year collective agreement will expire on May 31, 2019.

On June 8, members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) who work with Treasury Board mobilized to demand a quick and fair resolution to contract negotiations with their employers and to support their bargaining teams. In a show of solidarity, federal workers attended events organized by PSAC across Canada and called on the Liberal Government to keep their promise of respect and fairness in the current round of collective bargaining.

Public consultations, mandate are important steps in open government The Public Service Alliance of Canada North (PSAC North) commends the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) for their efforts to consult the public about the territory’s budget and fiscal strategy. Public input is an important step in making government accessible to residents of the territory, and makes the government more accountable and transparent.
